Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. She traveled together with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss issues like the Iran Contra controversy.
